Made it to Mt.Vernon about 8 PM!

Well....I'm checking in to a little motel here in Mt. Vernon.  Phone died on the way so I didn't get to post much this afternoon.  I am half dead LOL!  One of the hardest parts of the trip.  A whole lot of hills, and I mean looooong hills.  My phone died.  I got turned around for a few miles. I ran out of water last eight miles.  But, on the bright side, I hear there's a Mexican restaurant right here close by!  I'll post a blog with all the details after the meal and a shower.

Met some wonderful people here at Robinson's Grocery.  I love this little country store! These nice young men and their grandmother sat and talked with me some about the trip. Amanda is the Mom to the two men at Robinson's Grocery.  Great folks!  Enjoyed my time there.

Store is located at the top of the hill on 490 before you go down the mountain to Rockcastle River.

Day 4 2:38 PM The Magic Bus London KY

Isn't the Magic Bus in Alaska?  How did I get here?

Missed a turn off!

Temperature was a little on the cool side today, and it was windy!  I had to wear a few extra layers of clothing.  Coming down 638 I missed Twin Branch Road.  Went about two miles past the turnoff.  Phone service was spotty, and so without device to help me get on the right path, stopped in to talk with a local.  Unfortunately, he could hear, but couldn't speak.  I had to write down where I was trying to get to, and he responded in that way.  That, along with the dogs coming after me (next time I will bring some protection), it's been challenging.  This was supposed to be one of the hardest legs of the journey, but actually I feel I am getting stronger every day and doing fine.  I'm now on the right path headed towards my goal for today, Mt. Vernon.  Hope to be there in a few hours...

Along the road.

Joy at the start, fear in the journey
Joy in the coming home
A part of the heart gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road

Along the road your path may wander
A pilgrim's faith may fail
Absence makes the heart grow stronger
Darkness obscures the trail

Cursing the quest, courting disaster
Measureless nights forebode
Moments of rest, glimpses of laughter
Are treasured along the road

(Dan Folgelberg)

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.   (Robert Frost)

Woke up very early this morning. Could not go back to sleep. Feeling somewhat philosophical today. (Larry Penix)
